Blackpool Food Bank, with support from Blackpool Council, is aiming to reduce the amount of money that is given directly to street beggars by suggesting to people that they donate to those services that can help instead.

By educating people, it will hopefully encourage them to think about how their pound coin may potentially be spent when handing it over. Most of the time, the money may be spent to feed an addiction and will not be used to buy food or pay rent.

The money raised will be used to prevent individuals from living rough or returning to that way of life.

To make a donation, text:  BPAG18 £ followed by the specified amount between £1 and £10 to 70070.

If anyone has any concerns over a rough sleeper/beggar they should contact Blackpool Council on 01253 477477.
