Blackpool Museum Project’s end of year round up…

The Project has progressed with pace and vigour this year, with a big focus on adapting the content and designs for our fantastic new venue – the Sands Venue Resort Hotel.

The team has been refining the offer, paying particular attention to the experience from start to finish including; the welcome and shop, accessibility, activities, projects and events.

We have been very busy strengthening our collections with star objects and rigorous research. This includes working closely with various people within the entertainment industry who are giving us an invaluable insight into the inner-workings of this incredible show town.

The Museum experience will be brought to life by the memories of people who live, work and visit Blackpool. We have been planning how and where these voices will be featured around the Museum.

In the summer we undertook some market research and kicked off the branding consultation, all of which is feeding into our Business Plan and influencing the look and feel of the Museum.

We are thrilled to be halfway to meeting the funding target and are currently working hard on submitting a number of bids in the early part of 2019.

We would like to thank everyone who is connected to the Project for your help and support. In particular, the Heritage Volunteers for all their hard work and dedication.

As a little treat, we thought we would share some of the designs with you below. More will be revealed in the new year!!

The Museum displays will offer a ‘behind the scenes’ view of what it took to make Blackpool famous.

The aspiration is to create a new kind of museum, blending the best of museums and visitor attractions – a family friendly immersive and interactive experience filled with objects, film, music, performance and lots of things to do.
