We are looking for a new Education and Employability Officer, the focus of this role is to build on our current work and deliver IMO’s education and employability projects.

This role will involve you in working closely with the Education and Employability Lead in developing and generating additional projects on our education, learning and employability strand.

Salary: (£16,835 – £21,164) pro rata
Hours of work: 25 hours per week
Annual Leave: 25 days plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata) and pension
Contact type: Fixed Term 31st March 2020 (subject to further funding)

Purpose of the post:

The advertised position is an excellent opportunity to help deliver an important and much needed project’s on behalf of IMO for the local people of Blackburn with Darwen, to play a crucial role in supporting the disadvantage communities of the town.

The post holder will facilitate and where necessary deliver community based courses/programmes on relevant skills development areas. Education may include skills in literacy and numeracy, life skills or practical skills, such as budgeting, cooking or learning how to use a computer. Learning typically takes places in non-traditional venues such as community centres, children’s centres, and libraries and even within faith settings.

The post holder will liaise closely with a range of relevant organisations, agencies, professionals, voluntary sector bodies and community members. We would expect the post holder to develop positive working relations with a range of external partners such as Jobcentre Plus staff, community support workers, such as housing support, secondary schools, colleges and money advice staff.
