In December 2018 it was announced that Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust had been awarded £12.9m from the Government to redesign its emergency care and critical care services on the Blackpool Victoria site.
Although the money has been earmarked, we now have to produce a strong business case showing how we propose to spend the money and get that plan accepted.
The Fylde Coast Emergency Village is an opportunity to develop world class services for patients requiring urgent and emergency care and we want you to help make sure we get the best service possible with the money allocated
The current Emergency Department (ED) for the Fylde Coast requires expansion in order to address the critical requirements for right size resuscitation capacity and right size majors capacity in order to safely accommodate both the volume and surges in demand of admitted and non-admitted patients.
The scheme also provides an ambitious opportunity to create an Ambulatory Village and fundamentally re-design all non-elective care pathways as well as reviewing our critical care facilities, which are currently in three locations.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be holding two drop-in sessions on the below dates for you to come along and find out more about the reconfiguration and expansion of the Emergency Department and relocation of the Critical Care Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
- Thursday 23rd May – Trust Boardroom. BVH: 12:30pm – 14:30pm.
- Tuesday 28th May – Room 3&4 Education Centre, BVH, 11am-1pm.
It is an excellent opportunity for you as a representative to highlight any issues or key challenges you think are important and need to be addressed in the redesign of the departments. All responses will be captured and used as a baseline for reference once the proposed design solution has been agreed.
The aim is to treat the right people in the right place at the right time and these sessions will give you the chance to highlight what matters to you and your department..
These are your services and this is a great opportunity for you to get involved and shape how they will look and function in the future.
Your thoughts are important to us.
There is no need to book a place but we would love to see you on the above dates and get your thoughts.
