Blackpool is a great place to start a business
People like you start successful businesses every day in Blackpool – some start enterprises employing many people, some people work for themselves and earn a good living.
Everyone can benefit from a little help and our Get Started service has helped more than 1250 local people to start a business or become self-employed over the past 12 years. We hold Blackpool Enterprise Week every year to inspire and provide real practical assistance to a new group of local entrepreneurs.
During the week there’s 11 FREE workshops and events full of insight, inspiration and practical advice. There will also be plenty of opportunity to talk about your ideas with our Business Advisers. Pick and mix the workshops and events that suit you.
Each day covers a different subject:
Be your own boss – turn your idea into a business
Today’s sessions are designed to inspire and provide practical advice to both those who have a good business idea, but aren’t sure how to take the steps to start a business, and those who still need some assistance developing their idea, and everyone in between!
Take your medicine – painless financial planning
Our experience has also allowed us to develop an easy to use workbook, taking you step by step through the financial planning process. Today’s workshop guides you through this simple, thought-provoking process and will encourage you to complete your financial plan.
Find the money you need to start up, look after it and then relax
Today’s workshops explore the different types of start-up funding and the likely application process, and when you have the money look after it with the essentials of bookkeeping, digital accounting software and management information.
In the early evening, after all that information, why not join us for some light refreshment and meet some successful local business people talking about their business journey
Drop in and explore your idea
Come into Blackpool Central Library and talk about your business idea or any issues you are having with one of our Business Advisers. You can also find out how the resources in the Library can help you to research your business idea.
