From 16 December 2019 to 20 January 2020, Wyre Council is asking residents to take part in separate consultations on the Forton Extension Masterplan and Blackpool Rd, Poulton-le-Fylde Masterplan to inform the final documents.

The Wyre Local Plan allocates land for substantial development at Forton and Blackpool Rd, Poulton-le-Fylde.  The Local Plan requires these allocations to be brought forward through masterplans that will be used to guide the future development of the sites.

In Forton the extension will create a mixed use development including residential and employment uses and a neighbourhood centre incorporating a village hall and convenience store. A draft masterplan has been produced on behalf of the landowners that puts in place a framework to guide how the site will be developed, including where key uses could be located and the design principles that future development will need to take into account.

At Blackpool Rd, Poulton-le-Fylde the council has also worked with landowners and developers who have produced a draft masterplan that identifies land for residential development of 300 homes, a new primary school and a new car park to serve Poulton-le-Fylde town centre.

The preparation of masterplans, is a new approach to development in Wyre, ensuring stakeholders and the local community have a say in shaping proposals. Through this process Wyre council hope to achieve high quality and well thought out developments which provide communities with the facilities and amenities they need.

The consultations will take place over a five-week period beginning on 16 December 2019 and ending on 20 January 2020. Once the five week consultation period has ended on 20 January 2020, the council will produce a summary of the issues raised.  This will be published on the Wyre Council web site. The council will continue to work with the landowners, developers and key stakeholders to finalise the masterplans.  These will be submitted to Wyre council’s Cabinet for approval.

Comments on the masterplan should be submitted to Wyre Council.
