Every year Blackpool Youth Council run the Make Your Mark campaign, and for the last 3 years ‘Youth Mental Health’ has come top of young people’s concerns in Blackpool.
This year we’re looking to collaborate with groups, organisations and services to offer young people a range of activities to support them with their mental health, promote trying new activities and shine a spotlight on the importance of young people’s mental health.
There’s so much to do in Blackpool and we want to really highlight that to young people who might benefit from trying something new. We’re planning to tie this work together with Children’s Mental Health Week which is an annual awareness week which is now in its third year, and we hope to encourage more people than ever to get involved and spread the word. The week runs from 3-9thFebruary and this year we’ve got something very special going on and would love if you could help. We would love as many groups to offer something to young people to encourage them to take part in activities during that week. It could be a special free taster class, a free coffee or even a series of events.
To help you do that we will provide you with materials such as posters and a social media toolkit to help you promote your event and we will publicise all the activities for the week in our own promotion in the build up to the week.
We can even help if you would like to do something more in the limelight – Fancy running a one off Zumba class under the mirror ball? How about a photography taster or a craft group meeting in a special location? Let us know what you’re wanting to do and we will do all we can to help make it happen. If you’re looking to encourage more members to your group or encourage people to engage with your service this is a great chance to do just that and you’ll be helping to raise awareness of the importance of supporting our young people with their mental health.
If you’re thinking of taking part, please complete the short form attached to let us know what you’re running and we’ll arrange to add it to the weeks activity list. If you’d like to discuss your idea you can get in touch by emailing [email protected] or calling 01253 476363.
Deadline for submitting an activity is: Friday 10th January 2020
