Nominations are being sought for Wyre’s most inspirational young people. If you know a young person who exceeds in their area, nominate them for the Sheraton Trophy. The deadline for the 2020 nominations is 5pm Friday 20 March.

Every year, the Mayor of Wyre presents the prestigious Sheraton Trophy to a rising star who has brought pride to the borough as a result of their achievements.

The Sheraton Trophy takes its name from HMS Sheraton which was awarded the Freedom of the Borough in recognition of work done in Fleetwood by the crew during the 1977 flood emergency when the ship was visiting the port.

Wyre Council wants to hear about young people who have excelled in any walk of life, be it sport, the arts, community work, volunteering or an achievement against the odds.

One deserving winner, chosen by the outgoing Mayor Councillor Ann Turner, will be presented with the trophy at the council’s annual meeting on Thursday 14 May.

Last year’s trophy was awarded to Katie Ramsbottom, from Fleetwood, for her sporting triumphs and achievements against the odds.

Katie lost her father to cancer and has been a tower of strength for her family. Katie took part in a sponsored walk for her father whilst he was very ill and another after he passed away. Katie also holds many sporting achievements and has played football since she was just four years old.

Do you know an inspirational young person like Katie? To nominate them for this year’s Sheraton Trophy, email [email protected] or write to Andrea Mullin, Civic Centre, Breck Road, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire FY6 7PU.

The deadline for entries is 5pm Friday 20 March 2020.
