URPotential are proud to announce their 4th Annual LGBT Youth conference in Blackpool on the 22nd February 2020 at the Oracle building in Blackpool. Last year more than 100 young people attended the event from across the North West and beyond.

The conference creates a safe place for LGBT young people to celebrate who they are, meet other young people and participate in various fun and educational activities under one roof. The event is held during International LGBT History Month to celebrate diversity and inclusion worldwide and is event is funded by BBC Children In Need and Fylde Coast Clinical Commissioning Group.

The day begins with a few words from inspiring young role models from our LGBT groups, Amy Cross the Mayor of Blackpool, Clive Grunshaw – Police and crime commissioner for Lancashire Constabulary, and representatives from The Proud Trust Charity – Manchester.

Young people will then go off to their chosen activities throughout the day which include LGBT Sexual Health Awareness, Badge Making, Pebble Painting, Mindfulness, Comfort Boxes, Zine Making, Glow Sport, Self Defence, Chill Out room and Pet Therapy. After lunch young people will have to opportunity to be creative and inspire their peers by performing a song, reading a poem, or presenting some other form of performing arts.

Nina Beavers – LGBT Coordinator at URPotential says ‘’I am so excited that this next event will be even better than last years. Blackpool young people have planned this event with us and will be leading activities on the day, it will do wonders for their self-confidence and self-belief. At last year’s event the atmosphere was amazing, the young peoples’ appreciation at having a day dedicated to them meant for lots of happy vibes and led to new friendships being formed.’’
