Local people who are actively engaged in tackling issues and in helping to realise the communities potential established Fleetwood Trust. The churches that provide the voluntary services in the town suggested the idea to buy the mainly derelict 60,000 sq ft Fleetwood Hospital building, with a view to turning it into a vibrant hub for the community, to give people a long term stake in the future of their community a location in the heart of the town bringing people together from right across communities from a variety of backgrounds to work for a better future together.
Fleetwood Trust managed to raise the funding from anonymous donors and local businesses and purchased the freehold of Fleetwood Hospital from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals with the aim of turning the building into a centralised Community Hub, a place where all walks of life will be welcomed and signposted towards all of the services Fleetwood has to offer. By addressing the identified needs of the town and giving the belief that the people of Fleetwood can, and should, take increased responsibility to tackle the issues that affect the community.
We thank the continued support from the community as we continue to fundraise to continue the redevelopment of the building.
