Help to pay essential household bills

As part of the governments COVID winter grant scheme the Blackpool financial support scheme can provide assistance to help to families and those who are vulnerable, who have been impacted economically by the coronavirus pandemic, for example:

  • Had a reduction in income due to being furloughed
  • Been made redundant or contract work ended
  • Have been laid off or had working hours reduced

The scheme can assist people who have arrears or are struggling to pay essential household bills such as:

  • Gas and electricity bills
  • United Utility bills
  • Council Tax bills
  • Other essential outgoings may be considered

Awards will not be in the form of cash but will be payment direct to the supplier

This scheme does not include housing costs such as rent or mortgage payments as alternative help is available. If you are struggling with rent or rent arrears and receive Housing Benefit or housing costs as part of your Universal Credit claim, you may qualify for assistance with a Discretionary Housing Payment.

Applications

Applications are submitted online and as part of the application process you will be asked to upload evidence of the things you need assistance with, copy bills or invoices, bank statements etc.

You may want to get these ready before you start your application.

If you do not have access to a document scanner photographs can be taken on your phone for uploading, however please ensure photographs are clear and show the full document.

Once your application has been successfully submitted you will receive a confirmation email providing an application reference number.

As communication in relation to your application will be by email, please ensure the email address you provide on your application is correct.
