Period of Contract: Fixed Term for a 12- month period, starting in November 2021
Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week
Location: Active Seconds Retail Community Hub, Unit 26, Accrington Arndale BB5 1EX with travel occasionally to the main office in Leyland and other parts of the County.
Salary: SCP 5-11 £19,312 – £21, 748

We are currently in a position to recruit for a Charity Retail Shop Manager.

This is the first “retail outlet/hub” on the high street for Active Lancashire with a view that if successful and profitable, the opening of further shops could be introduced in other areas. As Retail Manager, you will provide a welcoming and commercial environment for our customers. Through consultation with partners and the local community, you will utilise and develop the use of the Hub. Highly organised, you will co-ordinate donations to gain the best value by selling them through the Charity Shop, external recycling organisations or online. Responsible for creative displays and seasonal merchandising you will manage staff and a team of volunteers some of whom will in recovery from substance misuse, ex-offenders, mental health issues etc, to deliver a high standard of retail operations to ensure the customer has a positive shopping experience.

Good knowledge of Retail Management, Gift Aid, Health and Safety and Security is also essential.

Main Responsibilities
• Manage a team of staff and volunteers to oversee the smooth running of our retail shop and support the development of the community hub.
• Optimise sales of donated stock; monitor sales performance and produce financial performance reports for the Operations Manager.
• Set standards for excellent customer service and ensure that the team provides a responsive, efficient and friendly customer experience.
• Manage the day to day retailing activity in the shop, working on the sales floor (lifting and handling stock as required) and delegating to volunteers where appropriate
• Manage and co-ordinate the sale of stock online through EBAY, Facebook and online outlets, creating an additional outlet for sales and maximising initiative
• Maintain high levels of personal competency in the operation of EPOS systems and provide induction, training, ongoing support and advice to staff and volunteers using the system
• Increase Gift Aid sales conversions and donor sign ups. Manage repeat donations and ensure the sale of gift aid stock is being conducted within the HMRC guidelines in accordance with organisation procedures
• Recruit, train, retain and carry our development reviews for staff and volunteers in the shop. Work closely with the Operations Manager and the Training & Development Officer
