Park Club - behind the Masonic Hall
We meet at 1.30pm every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month
We are a group of free-thinking writers who meet to share our poetry and prose. Our members range from published authors to beginners and all are made welcome.
We raise money for local charities by publishing Anthologies of our writing every year which we then sell to raise money on their behalf ; Easterleigh, Brian House Hospice, RNLI and Hounds for Heroes, are amongst our recent issues. Our current Anthology is being sold on behalf of the “Carers @ npoint”.
A sub-group of Cleveleys Writers called “Wordsmiths with a Song” go out to entertain with readings of our own poetry and a few songs accompanied by our two guitar playing Songsters. We go to local Old people’s Homes and the Trinity Hospice on a regular basis. We have also played at The Marine Hall, Fleetwood for Wyre Borough Council, and recently at The Civic Luncheon at The North Euston Hotel, Fleetwood, as part of Tram Sunday.
Cleveleys Writers run an Annual Lyric Writing Competition throughout the Primary and High Schools in Wyre, which is very popular. The winning poems in the two age groups are then set to music by our Songsters and the Pupils are presented with a “silver disc” and a CD of their winning Lyrics/song at an award Ceremony. The winning Schools retain a special Shield for a Year.
