The second area of support for the sector that CVS is providing in Blackpool focuses on community – run facilities. This work includes a directory of facilities available across the town, hosted through the One Blackpool website, and a targeted programme of advice and training.
We have collected details about 167 community-run buildings on our database. However, before making all of these live on the website we need to confirm our existing information and add further details such as disabled access. The process of gathering up-to-date information is being carried out by CVS volunteers and takes some time!
We will be going live shortly with 30 confirmed groups, and the directory will then be updated as we gather information.
The advice programme is being compiled from guidance, case studies and input from CVS members. We will be looking for mentor organisations in the near future to assist smaller groups with advice around sustainability. We are currently working with St Peter’s in South Shore.
